TELLING THE TRUTH

Seeing as we’re talking about Glennon Doyle, here’s a link to a podcast episode she did with the brilliant Brené Brown:

Before I continue, let me state that I am not a professional of any kind. Except songwriter! I’m definitely a pro at that 💥 I’m sharing the resources that interest and excite me. I’m sharing my thoughts, my experiences and my truths. Take what you want, leave what you don’t.

Brené is a constant source of inspiration for me and, what is SO brilliant about her is that her inspiration is backed by research.

If you want to dive deeper into Brené Brown may I also recommend her Netflix special “A Call to Courage”.

Brené talks ENDLESSLY about vulnerability. Or, as I like to call it, TELLING THE TRUTH.

Have you ever noticed that you say something to someone and its not completely true, but you don’t think you could/should say the complete truth because if you do they’ll get upset, or they won’t understand, or they’ll walk away from you or tell you you’re a jerk? So you don’t say the completely true thing and then, not only do you hate them a little bit for not understanding you, you also a little bit hate yourself? 🙋‍♀️

Learning about vulnerability (aka telling the truth) and how to practice and embody it in a healthy way has almost eradicated this problem from my life. ALMOST. Honestly, just the other day, I had a massive fail with this. I’m definitely not claiming to be a pro. But, I have improved a helluva lot and I have Brené to thank in part for that. Also, as an added bonus, telling the truth helps me connect more deeply with the people I love. Win-Win 🏆

I’ll go deeper into this tomorrow, when I share the in-depth lyrical analysis for LET IT BURN x
