Great Gigs 🔥

Here’s a little story about why I’m doing this…

I’m just off a 26 date national tour where I sold out 6 of the shows and had the rest averaging around 60 people at each gig. The tour grossed around $45,000 (ticket sales + merch), of which I saw about $5k profit, which equated to around $190 p/gig in my pocket.

Each gig was minimum 8 hours from load in to load out, there was travel time each day and I looked after all tour management and marketing…. So I basically paid myself around $10 p/hr 😂

This was a solo tour and I kept costs low by staying with friends & family where I could.

I had standard expenses (production, supports, travel, accom etc) and the biggest expense by far was marketing.

Running Facebook ads was super successful at getting people in the door. The tour was awesome for expanding my fanbase and selling merch, but no so awesome for paying my rent.

After two days of crying, I’ve now got a massive fire under me to find a new way of doing business.

I know so many artists at a similar career level, and artists with higher profiles, that are struggling with similar equations - a lot of us are in the same boat.

So, I’m gathering a mountain of information from artists, for artists, to help us all thrive.

I am compiling a list of gigs around the country that an artist can show up to and know that:

1. There will be a certain number of people there because the promoter / venue has their own networks who attend the shows, or the shows have a local champion that successfully promotes to the local community

2. They will earn a certain minimum amount for the show

3. They will have high quality production with a professional operator

I want these gigs to be:

1. Listening gigs for artists that fall under the singer/songwriter, folk, Americana, acoustic umbrellas

2. Respectful and safe for women, the LGBTQIA+ community, Indigenous Australians, and people of colour

I also want to provide details as to whether the gigs:

1. Are accessible for disabled artists and attendees

2. Provide a space for parents who are performing to bring their kids

3. Provide meals and / or accomodation

I know these gigs exist but - as far as I know - there’s no up to date, detailed list that artists can access.

I want to help make it easy for artists to get the information and contacts we need, to help us route and book a tour that can include some of these shows.

If you know about a gig(s) that fits this criteria, please fill out the form below.

Everyone who contributes to this list will have full access to the list once I've compiled all the info.

If you know other artists who know a gig(s) that fit into this criteria, please share this page with them too.

Let’s tour smarter, and help lift each other higher 🙌

We’re all starting to book 2023 so please submit your gig info by Friday October 14th so we can all benefit sooner rather than later from this crowd-sourced info.

Thankyou!
